Replace the battery with a new one that is the same model size, capacity and specifications. A battery of a different type can damage the fob.
Metal clips hold the battery within the fob, completing an electrical circuit on activation of the remote. If they're loose or dirty, they could cause a short, and stop the remote from working. Use isopropyl or electronic cleaner to clean them.
To replace the battery, you need to open the fob and look for a gap in the middle in which you can insert a screwdriver or other tool to break it. Replace the battery with a brand new one. Make sure to install it in the same direction. The fob will then close automatically. After changing the battery it is essential to verify that the fob is functioning properly.
Water Damage

The electronic chip inside the key fob is protected by rubber seals, but prolonged exposure to water can affect the quality of these seals over time. Water is also a great conductor that can cause short circuits within the key fob.
Fortunately, the battery for the key fob can be replaced easily. Make The Keylab of a small screwdriver with a flat head or thumb nail to pull open the cover of the key fob's battery compartment. Install a new button cell battery CR2025 and ensure that the polarity is facing upwards. Close the keyfob's battery compartment to re-programme the remote so that it can work with your car.

However, if the water was dirty, soapy, or salty or corrosive, it may have caused damage to the chip. It is advisable to open up the fob and inspect the mechanical parts for indications of corrosion or damage before attempting to use it again. Make sure that it's connected properly.
Radio Interference
If the signal from the key fob is disrupted by interference it can prevent the vehicle from responding to the remote control. This could be caused by various factors that include radio transmissions from other devices that operate within the same frequency band as the key fob. The signal could be drowned out by signals that are too loud in power.
The most common cause of keys that do not function is a dead coin-cell. It is important to check the battery first. If the battery for the key fob has been replaced recently but has lost its range it is a sign that the battery is wearing out.
It is recommended that you utilize a new battery for replacement and ensure that the proper size and voltage is utilized. It is important to ensure that the direction of the polarity is the same direction as the battery when it is placed. This will avoid damage to the chip inside the key fob. If the battery has been damaged by water, the chip could need to be cleaned using isopropyl alcohol, or an electronic cleaner.
